Megan's House - Waycross is Now Open

Megans House Living RoomIn late May Easter Seals received start-up funding for a second Megan's House from the Region 5 Department of Human Resources Division of Mental Health/Developmental Disabilities/Addictive Diseases.  Over the past few months a house was selected in Waycross, renovations were made and furnishings purchased and now all the hard work is done and it is open and ready for business.  The staff has been hired and are ready to begin the charge of serving 20 children with developmental disabilities by JMegans House Open Houseuly 2007.

To celebrate this major accomplishment, an Open House was held on September 24th and was well attended by local visitors.  The visitors included families interested in the service, local Board Members, neighbors, church groups and many over supporters.  The day was a complete success thanks to the Waycross Women's Club and many other supporters who provided all the refreshments.

Because of this support we are confident that this Megan's House will be just as successful at meeting the needs of families in this area as the one in Albany has been for Southwest Georgia.

Megans HouseAgain, Easter Seals would like to give sincere appreciation to DHR Region 5 for the funding and the many volunteers who provided countless hours during the renovations and decorating of the house.
