Strong, Carol, and Travis LOVE their job!
Employment provides the opportunity to participate as a member of a community. Easter Seals Southern Georgia helps people with disabilities learn skills to successfully enter the workforce. Not only do employees benefit from the satisfaction of having a job, but businesses also gain from their contributions. Residents from Crisp County Options in Cordele and Joe Speight Home for Men in Unadilla show their determination to work in the community. Strong Bembry, Carol Ann Mathews, and Travis Scruggs are dedicated, reliable, and loyal employees who truly enjoy their jobs.
Strong Bembry recently started his job at Impact Sports in Cordele. He helps fold towels and clean down the machines. Strong has been living at the Joe Speight Home for Men since 2003. He comes from a large family who stills lives in the area. A staff member says, “He loves it! He’d rather be at work than anywhere else.” His reason for loving his job…he loves helping people. In his free time, he enjoys wresting, The Braves, spending time with his family on the weekends, and playing games on the computer.

Carol Ann Mathews is employed with Maurice’s Country Cooking in Vienna. Her duties include cleaning off tables and filling tea glasses. Talking to everyone and keeping up with local news is her favorite part of the job. One staff member at Crisp County Options said, “she is like a mother to all of the residents”. In her free time, she enjoys riding around and site seeing.

As a child, Travis Scruggs always dreamed of becoming a bag boy. Never giving up, he accomplished his goal and has been bagging groceries at Piggly Wiggly in Vienna since 2007! “He loves his job and everyone he works with. If he’s not at church then he wants to be at work” stated one staff member. On his free time, he enjoys weekly Bible study, church, and watching wrestling with his roommates.
