The People Behind the Mission: Meet Shannon Griffin

Shannon joined Easterseals Southern Georgia in July 2023 and has become a valued member of the Human Resources team. In her role, she helps recruit and support employees who share Easterseals' commitment to empowering people and creating opportunities for individuals to live full, independent lives.

"I enjoy meeting new people and helping build a team that truly cares about the individuals we serve," Shannon shared. "It's rewarding to see the difference the right employee can make."

While much of Shannon's work happens behind the scenes, she recognizes the important connection between building a strong team and providing quality services. Every employee who joins Easterseals has the opportunity to make a positive impact, and Shannon takes pride in helping bring those individuals into the organization.

Finding Purpose in Helping Others Thrive

For Shannon, some of the most rewarding moments at Easterseals come from seeing the individuals we serve grow, gain confidence, and experience happiness.

"Seeing the individuals we serve thrive has been one of my most rewarding experiences at Easterseals," she said. "Their smiles and hugs remind me every day why I love what I do."

Those moments reinforce the importance of her role and motivate her to continue finding compassionate, dedicated employees who will make a meaningful difference.

"Knowing that I'm helping find the right people to care for and support our individuals is what motivates me every day," Shannon explained. "The right employee can make a real difference in someone's life, and it's rewarding to be a part of that process."

Shannon believes Easterseals makes a lasting impact by creating an environment where individuals feel included, respected, and valued for who they are. She sees that impact reflected in the confidence and happiness of the people receiving services.

When asked what message she would share with the community about Easterseals, Shannon's response was simple:

"Easterseals truly cares about the people we serve."

Family, Gardening, and a Little Adventure

Outside of work, Shannon's family is at the center of her world. She describes her husband as her best friend and biggest supporter. Together, they have three children and a house full of animals.

"There is never a dull moment in our house, and I wouldn't have it any other way," she shared.

When she has time to unwind, Shannon enjoys gardening. But don't let her love of peaceful afternoons in the garden fool you—she also has an adventurous side!

One surprising fact about Shannon is that although she is terrified of heights, she loves jumping out of airplanes. Her enthusiasm for skydiving proves that sometimes the most exciting experiences happen when we step outside our comfort zones.
