Virtual Reality (VR) is an immersive and interactive training therapy that utilizes VR headsets to assist individuals with disabilities in exploring career paths and job opportunities.

The Virtual Reality Program is designed to provide both career exploration and career training opportunities across various industries. 

The Virtual Reality Program is designed to provide both career exploration and training opportunities for individuals with disabilities across various industries. 

How it Works

  • Realistic Simulations: VR simulations recreate the sights, sounds, and even some of the physical sensations of actual job sites. This allows learners to “step into” different roles and experience the day-to-day tasks and challenges of various careers firsthand by seeing the job skills in action, as well as participating in step-by-step training and practicing customer service interactions in a safe and controlled setting. This training enables individuals to experience jobs that may not be feasible in a real-world setting. Easterseals instructors are present for training and to discuss job qualifications and the education necessary for those career fields.
  • Coaching: The VR Headsets have a built-in coach inside the VR Headset Modules. This offers real-time coaching to program participants, providing guidance, feedback, and support as they navigate the experience. This process offers personalized instruction and encouragement, eliminating the need for individuals to pause the module to ask questions, thereby enhancing the learning experience.
  • Accessibility: VR simulations are designed to be accessible to all learners. This ensures that everyone can benefit from the immersive learning experiences.

  • Helps participants develop social skills and confront potentially stressful situations. Studies show that individualized rehearsal and repetition of scenarios in virtual reality helps people with autism generalize social skills and apply them to the real world.
  • Explore opportunities that they did not realize were possible.
