Celebrating Lameisha Lewis

Lameisha Lewis is a student in the Easterseals Vocational Program at Crisp County High School. Our Vocational Specialist, Keisha, has been working with her since 2023. Lameisha is non-verbal and has limited cognitive and social skills. While working with her, Keisha found it occasionally challenging for Lameisha to interact with other students during group or team activities; she often needed one-on-one assistance and sometimes felt unable to participate.

However, with continuous encouragement from her peers and support from her Vocational Specialist, Lameisha has made significant progress in participating in these activities. She is now often the first student to rise from her seat and head to the therapy room for her work readiness class. Lameisha always has a smile on her face and eagerly checks Keisha’s bag to see if she has brought a reward for her hard work during class.

She has become more alert, engaged, and is learning to work independently during group activities with her peers. I am incredibly proud of her progress and determination; this is a huge accomplishment for her. – Keisha, Easterseals Vocational Specialist

Recently, Lameisha received her Letterman's jacket during the Special Olympics award ceremony.
