Cody's Dream to Become a Firefighter

He believed he could, and he did. Cody is now living his lifelong dream of being a firefighter.

A Dream Becomes Reality

Cody Slusher has dreamed of becoming a firefighter since he was four years old. Thanks to Easterseals Southern Georgia’s Vocational Program and the Sylvester Fire Department, he is now living out that dream.

Since the video featuring his journey, Cody has been working toward his goal. With the support and encouragement from everyone involved, we are excited to announce that Cody has completed and passed the volunteer firefighter test through the Fire Academy at Albany Technical College in Albany, Georgia. 

Cody is now a registered volunteer firefighter! Not only does this achievement mean he can fight fires, but he is also now eligible for Georgia’s Fireman Pension Fund.
