From Culinary Dreams to Empowerment

Ja’Marcus, a recent Westover High School graduate, followed his passion for cooking by attending Albany Technical College, where he earned a Culinary Arts certification through the Leap Program. 

After Ja’Marcus completed his culinary training, he was ready to find a job with the help of Easterseals Supported Employment Program. This program helps people with disabilities find jobs in regular work settings. It ensures everyone has a chance to succeed in their careers by offering personalized support based on each person’s strengths and preferences. The goal is to help participants not just get jobs, but also find meaningful and satisfying employment.

Ja’Marcus continues to receive essential support from his Vocational Specialist at Easterseals. He receives personalized assistance in creating a strong resume and practicing interview skills, which has given him the confidence to succeed in the job market.

With continued encouragement from his Vocational Specialist, Ja’Marcus has been able to approach the job search process with enthusiasm and determination. Throughout his journey, he has approached each interview with a positive attitude and is actively building his confidence to handle interviews independently. It’s clear that his aspirations extend far beyond simply landing a job; Ja’Marcus dreams of owning his own restaurant one day. This vision drives his efforts and fuels his passion for culinary arts.
